Generally this is the best way to ensure no signal loss, however you could use a pair of diplexers to combine the cable TV with the satellite signal. I've had "iffy" experience when using diplexers with cable internet so I wouold hook it up and try it first. What you do is use one diplexer at one end of the existing in-wall coax and the second diplexer at the other end. A diplexer combines the satellite signal from the dish along with the cable TV signal onto one coax; then "splits" them out at the other end of the coax.
