Re: Manual PID Entry Available on Fortec 786v3

1. The channel you mentioned does not require manual PIDs at all.
2. The approach you mentioned only allows users to add the new transponders, not the Pids.
I guess that you first try to use the pre-programed transponder to find the MBC, right? Perhaps its freq or SR is off a little bit, therefore you could not get the MBC in.
Then using this approach, you created a new TP with correct freq, pol, SR, so you could get the MBC in.
If the receiver allows user to key Pids manually, it should:
Allowing user to define the channels name, freq, pol, sr, fec, pids without scaning anything.

I still don't see how one can do that using the remote control.
Please don't feel offended, I just want every thing is clear here to avoid any misunderstanding for other Fortect users.

Michael

The receiver simply does not save the Pids even you force it to save.
The only way you can manually key Pids is to use the Edit software.

This is not quite true. The manual PID entry for the Fortec 786v3 is functional. I used it to find the following channel that the receiver could not find on its own:

MBC
Telstar 5
f=11874
pol=H
sym=22000
VPID=1560
APID=1520
PCR PID=1560

I searched for this channel twice and the receiver could not find it on its own. I then entered the PIDS using the remote and on-screen menu, searched again, and the receiver found the channel.

Using the remote to manually entered PIDs does not forcefully add a channel to the list. The only way I've found to do this is by using the computer interface.

However, being able to manually enter PIDs with the remote is useful, as the computer interface is not needed to find a channel.

I found another channel this way a couple weeks ago that the receiver couldn't find on its own, but I can't remember which one.
