I thought I had seen everything with the Ultra, and all the memory problems it has when there are too many transponders, etc, but this is a new one.

My Ultra had started behaving strangely, and I was ready to wipe out the memory and start over anyway, but yesterday it started failing to save channels when you'd scan a transponder with channels. Ie, I found a channel with another receiver, and tried to scan the transponder into the Ultra. The transponder locked fine, like an 85/85 S/Q , however it came up empty, ie no channels found, even though I knew they were there. I tried several times. Nothing. I eventually tried entering the PIDs manually, and that worked.
Today, I was playing one of these transponders, and it was starting to break up, despite having a strong signal, so I decided I was going to wipe out the memory, and start over. Did that, reset to factory, went to the satellite I had the big dish on, and did a blind scan. NOTHING. Entered the transponder that I knew had channels on it. Locked fine, but no channels found.
So I decided to reload the firmware. Did that. Reset to factory. Went to that sat. Blind scan. Nothing. Transponder scan. Nothing.

FINALLY, and this is the WEIRD thing. I decided to do the scan in "ALL+" mode instead of FTA mode (ie I had been scanning in FTA mode because I wanted to keep the number of channels down).
BINGO, the blind scan found about 30 some channels on the sat. HOWEVER, it scanned all the scrambled channels in as FTA (with no PIDS), but scanned all the FTA channels in as being scrambled!?!? The "scrambled" FTA channels played fine, but it's weird that it somehow reversed the scrambled flag on these channels. Makes it hard for me to now delete things, because I have to delete things that aren't listed as scrambled, and keep things that ARE listed as scrambled.

Anyway, one more WEIRD ULTRA symptom.
