So, is the Birddog better than the Sathawk?

My problem with the Sathawk is that you have to be right on the bird in order for it to see it, so it's only good for fine tuning. East of about 119, I get pretty much a steady background with the AcuTrac or the audible Satellite Finder because of the background noise and the closeness to the horizon, even though I can grab a satellite every now & then with pretty good signal strength. I can pick up 148 with a three foot dish and both the AcuTrac and Satellite Finder respond great, since I'm at longitude 149. It's just pretty hit & miss for the eastern birds & the weather is pretty bad to be fooling around on the roof for very long. Will the Birddog tell you when you're getting close, or do you have to be gnat's ass on top of it (like the Sathawk) for it to respond?
