Well, it was a nice day today, so I decided to try to get a sat I haven't been able to receive for several years due to trees, but even though the leaves are long gone, I still couldn't get any reception. So I got out the chain saw, and cut down a couple nearby trees, hoping to clear some of the blockage (I cut about 5 trees, but left the 3 biggest trees blocking the sat). Well one of those trees was bigger than I thought, and it fell and hit the sat dish. :-(
I didn't think it had hurt anything, but when I returned my dish to it's normal resting place (AMC3), I couldn't see anything. Even after a quick peaking, it was still pretty much dead on Ku (I got a couple of stronger transponders, but was missing most.) Went to my due south sat, AMC6, and couldn't even get that religious channel that normally is 100%+ .
I think I knocked the feedhorn crooked or something. I guess I'm in for another full blown realignment. :-( It still seems to work OK on
C-band, and my little Fortec dish will get all the Ku sats, so I guess I'm still in business until I find time to work on it, because it's supposed to be raining tomorrow, ie not a good day to work on electronics outside.
FOOEY.
