If you did that, you would find your channel selection limited by the channel selection of the master receiver. Your "downstream" box would not have any control over the signal polarity, so you'd only be able to access the polarity channels selected by the first stb.
I suspect that your
installer is correct in his assesment of the situation.
1) If you have a DP quad lnb ( 4 outputs ) aimed at 110/119 , it can only support 4 receivers ,
2) Unless it's augmented by something like the Dish DPP34 switch, or
DPP44 switch which would take 2 of those outputs and make them available to 4 other receivers.
I'm no expert on this, but basically, don't expect full functionality without a dedicated lnb port for every receiver, unless you're going to do some custom switching. It can get pretty complex. Glad I don't need 5 TV's
