I'm kind of doing something similar now. My DTV receiver recently died due to a storm. Actually it still works, but wasn't sending and LNB power, so I slaved my DTV receiver to a FTA receiver that is providing the power. I got the FTA receiver to switch sats on the DTV dish, and in doing that, I'm able to watch NASA-TV off dish network on 119, while watching my local channels on the DTV 119 satellite at the same time.
I'd think this would be relatively easy to do if your dishnet system was an old simple one that only looked at one sat, or one of the ones that have separate coaxes coming from each lnb, however you'd probably have to re-aim it to aim at the 101 sat. If your DTV system is a two or 3 sat system though, you'd only be able to view what was on that one sat.
Without moving the Dishnet dish, you might be able to view signals on 110 and 119, if your DTV looks at those too for local or HD, however I wasn't having very good luck doing this. I was having to first lock the DTV on the 101 sat before switching to the 119 sat for some reason.
If you have a more complicated bandstacked Dishnet dish, it may be more complicated to do, but with an older dishnet system it should be dooable.
Thanks for the detailed response....My challenge is that I have some trees blocking my Dish Set up....but I had a guy from A Dish Contractor come and look and tell me that I could get Direct TV because of the different alignment through the trees. My Dish is several years old and has separate LNBs and lines...so I am optomistic. I am going to give it a try....
