Being in Montreal your due south satellite would be SBS6 at 74.0 west.
The
Ohio News Network is on there with a strong transponder 11741, horizontal polarization. If you've got a clear shot of the southern sky give that one a try.
Set your elevation to about 38 degrees and your direction (azimuth) to due south (NOT magnetic south!) You shouldn't have to adjust the orientation of the LNB in the holder (the "skew"). Just keep it as vertical as possible.
Ideally you'll want to have the receiver hooked to a tv nearby so you can watch the signal change as you adjust the dish. Take your time making adjustments. The response from the receiver is a lot slower with a linear LNB than a circular one.
