I took a dish down to 0 that was running to see how long it would take to get it tracking with simply backyard type equipment for tuning. Once the declination was set at exactly what the site here states I zeroed it to true south and then peaked for signal utilizing the motor elevation. I tracked from 30 to 123 with no problem except a little weak signal in spots. I raised the motor a half degree or so and hit everything strong.

I am going to use this method on my next install just to see how well it works a second time. Another note from big dish people is once all the way out to your sat (either way) push up and pull down to test signal strength. If you check each side of the arc and have opposite readings. Up on the west makes signal stronger and down on the east. Move the dish slightly west on the mast.

Same goes in reverse. Everything I have read states leave declination alone and use elevation and east west movement. It worked wonderful for me the first time out.
So, put my dish elevation at 0, then use the motor elevation ONLY to hit the bird? Is this correct? Can you elaborate at all? I'm about to put up a 76cm Winegard with a STAB HH100. If this is easier than the alternate method, please fill me in with more detailed instructions
