I suggest that you read the hundreds of similar messages that you will find in this and in the Fortec forum here. Everyone seems to ask the same question, but nobody gives enough info for anyone to tell what their problem is.
Personally, my experience is with big dish systems rather than with the little dishes, but I know that there can be several reasons for you not picking up anything. You should be looking for an active transponder on the sat nearest to due south of you. Many people just trust the transponder list in the software to be up to date. It usually isn't. Also, you need to make sure that you have selected the proper LNB type with the proper LO freq that corresponds to your LNB.
So, after looking through a few older threads, tell us what you have done, ie where you are, what satellite, and what transponder are you trying to lock? What angles have you set up on your dish? Do you have a hand held sat finder, or is your computer near enough to the dish to see the effects of your changes as you make them? Have you looked at Lyngsat to insure that the transponder you are looking for is actually transmitting?
Aligning a dish can be quite difficult if you have to climb and check your signal after each small change you make. I think that if I was going to attempt that, without a meter, that I'd get the dish working on the ground, then take it up to the roof while having it tuned to a channel so you can hear the audio pop in when you get it aimed right. It will save you a lot of trips up and down the roof. Also, as I've suggested in other threads, some people have found that the Thmover program found at the DVBAPPS web page is easier to use while looking for a signal.
There are some other techniques that could help you find satellites if you have some other hardware available, such as an analog sat receiver and a shortwave radio, but I'm guessing that that won't help here.
Anyway, this should be a start.
