Thanks for your input Druze. Here's what happened today in my ongoing saga to find an
installer. A nice lady at Toner Cable in Hatboro, PA recommended All Systems Audio & Video. I left a message for their installer and here's how the conversation went when he called me back.
I told him that I wanted my dish and motor aligned to pick up multiple satellites and he said, and I quote, "It can't be done". He said he's never seen it done by anyone. I asked if he could align the dish to pick up a single satellite and he said yes he could but he couldn't pick up a second satellite "even if it was right next to it and had a strong signal". He went on to say that I'd never pick up anything (other than 110 and 119) with just a 3-foot dish. He said that if I was in the middle of the country, then yes, I could pick up other sats but no way from Philadelphia with just a 3-foot dish. Everything would be snowy he says. I told him that I had previously had an 18" dish on my roof and I was getting 3 sats with that. He didn't believe me and said he'd "have to see it myself". I also have a friend in Canada, right on the Vermont border, who set up my receiver for me (some months ago) using the same 18" dish which he sent to me, and he was picking up 5 satellites from his location with the 18" dish. They were Echo 3, Nimiq 1, Echo 7, Echo 8.6.
So....according to "Mark" at All Systems, all the people I see posting on various satellite tv forums, people on the east coast who have the same equipment as I do and are receiving multiple satellites......well, they must all be liars. And, the companies that sell dish motors, and the companies that sell dishes to go with those motors to customers on the east coast, I guess they must all be scam artists, because, according to Mark they're selling people equipment for something that "can't be done".
This is pathetic. If I wasn't so stressed out about all this it would be funny.
