ar485,
I updated the firmware in the Lifetime receiver that I have to Version 2.16NTSC from Fortec's homepage at
http://www.fortecstar.ca/downloads/
A friend of mine also has a similar situation as yours where his positioner did not move. I did a Receiver-to-receiver transfer of firmware and TP data from mine to his. His dish now positions correctly. I do not know if it was the firmware upgrade or just that I got my data entered correctly and maybe he didn't. I do know that both receivers origionally had Firmware 2.11NTSC.
Also an update of my intermittant positioner behavior. It has been behaving properly all weekend. (holding its memory of the positions and not locking up). I still think that the Lifetime model may be sensitive to warmer enviroments though. Typically in my house this time of year it is about 79 - 83 F. It is kept out in the open for good ventilation but a couple of times it has either shut off by itself or has locked up. I am thinking of adding a small computer processor fan to it. Anybody else have quirks?
