Also, have you tried unplugging your receiver for a while then trying it again? I've had receivers seem to give no signal, but if you unplug it for a while they often come back to life.
LNBs can be zapped by lightning, but it isn't as common as you would think. I've been through some pretty nasty lightning storms, and only had an lnb go out due to lightning once in approximately 18 years in the hobby. But yes, it can happen. But the lnb is pretty much protected by it's case, and if it does get zapped, the surge most likely came up through the coax from the receiver, in which case the receiver may have suffered too.
Do you have one of those hand held
signal meters? Sometimes the receiver takes a hit, and doesn't send power to the lnb, but you can test this by using one of those hand held signal meters, because if it doesn't give any response at all, you probably don't have power on. Or, even a voltmeter on the coax.
Also, are you by chance using a
diseqc switch? Those are relatively prone to getting zapped.
