http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Acces...rdog-meter.htm
The
Birdog is location sensitive. It will only pick up satellites within the footprint of its programming. Consequently you may need a larger dish if on the outer limits of the satellite footprint.
If the meter will not search or lock or the picture quality is low:
Check that the lead is securely connected at both ends and is undamaged
If there are kinks or the outer braids are touching the inner dielectric - the meter may not operate correctly.
All
installation engineers should be aware that incorrect positioning of the
satellite dish might cause search and lock difficulties.
Occasionally, when aligning the dish after wall mounting, it may be possible to get a 'Found' reading but not a satisfactory 'Picture Quality' readout in either Horizontal, Vertical or both.
This indicates that the satellite dish has been incorrectly positioned and that its line of sight to the relevant satellite is obstructed by either a natural feature such as a tree or a man made object. The dish will need to be re-positioned to enable the correct fine-tuning to take place.
