28.5 is good for the motor. Just making sure.
I think you had to go to lower elevation because the
IA5 is lower on the arc than AMC5, and when you were attempting to find it you had to lower your elevation. It's possible to get the dish located on a satellite, but unless all the numbers are correct, once it moves it will not track the arc and you'll only get that one bird.
You need to remember that the dish "tilts" as it rotates and automatically compensates for the lower elevation as it moves side to side.
The dish setup bracket elevation you calculated at a value of 40 is at its highest point (center of the top of the arc), when you are doing the initial setup.
Steps:
1. Align to true south (180 + 5.5) shoudl be a little "right" of south (to the west at 185 degrees on a compass)
2. USALS to AMC5
3. Adjust dish elevation, and motor's bracket on pole (side to side - the whole contaption dish & motor) to peak signal
