NTSC is a transmission format not an encryption type. It refers to the C-Band signals that are analog in nature. VC2 is Videocipher 2 and it is a type of encryption invented by General Instrument - currently in use by C-Band receivers and by StarChoice DTH systems and also by commercial users. DVB means Digital Video Broadcasting and that is the one to look for when searching for FTA channels.
DVB, like NTSC, is a transmission format that can either be encrypted or free to air.
