The way I would do it, using USALS drive your motor to the sat. Move the motor on pole to where you think south is. Start adjusting dish elevation up and down slowly, allowing the receiver to lock in on the signal. IF you don't get anything, move the the whole setup just a little east or west (this is very sensitive because even the smallest movement could move it few degrees). Repeat adjusting the elevation slovly to get a lock. Repat until you get a lock or get too frustrated (or obviously go too far east/west).

This works for me. I had problems too when I first set my dish up, but now I can take my whole setup down and put it back up in 15 minutes and get a lock
