I have never seen a Digicon connector, but if they are like Snap 'n Seal here is what I do:

After stripping, fold the braid back so that no little strands are touching the center conductor. Then push the connector (leave the little plastic piece there -- it will get compressed by the tool) onto the cable so that the dielectric just touches the bottom of the connector; yes, its hard to push the connector all the way - some cable is tougher than others. Then compress the connector and trim the center conductor to be 1/8 " past the connector.
